What it means to use a full-frame lens on an APS-C sensor camera

A full frame lens on a Camera with APS-C sensor screwing is not a problem. You have to think of it this way, that the diameter of the image circle has to be larger than the diagonal of the sensor. If this is the case, then your image is fully exposed. That's why you can Full Frame Lenses (FX) very good with smaller sensors use. How much larger the diameter is in relation to the sensor is called the crop factor. Crop means that the image is cropped at this point.

But if the image circle is smaller than the image sensor, for example if you take an APS-C lens and combine it with a full-frame sensor, then the full-frame sensor captures more of the image, which the lens can't sort of see . Therefore, this outer area of the image cannot be fully exposed, so that the corners of the image are only displayed as a dark area in the final image. Therefore, this variant is not advisable at all.
